Leaders, Trailblazers, Pioneers

4

Just being myself and accepting my place in life.

Another late night working and putting some foundational information to use here at Don’t Forget Abouts.

All my life people have told me that I am a leader; a person with leadership qualities. My zodiac sign, Aries; The Leader. Basketball; a scorer, yet able to bring the best out in my teammates.  Speaking; able to convey to others what I’ve learned and witness them utilize that information.

And there are other attributes but this is not to “toot my own horn” or say that I’m the Great Scott, it’s more about my misunderstanding what a leader is, what a trailblazer does, how a pioneer operates.

I thought these types of people took the world upon their shoulders and started their journey. I thought they somehow had a wisdom and understanding that no one else could grasp and it was their duty to lead the masses. To go where no one had gone before (yeah, I used to watch Star Trek).

I didn’t realize they had mentors and guides and followed that guidance. That they lived by the principles they believed in no matter what the situation – as best they could, because being human, we lack perfection.

Today I can be more effective in leading, in trailblazing and pioneering because I have guidance and I am listening but also asking questions. I am not loading the world on my shoulders and seeking to save the masses – not all at once anyway!

Who leads leaders? The trailblazers that ventured out before them. Who do trailblazers follow? The pioneers that set out for discovery prior to their departure.

I read somewhere that there is nothing new under the sun. Actually, it wasn’t somewhere it’s in the Book of Ecclesiastes. The longer I live the more I realize that I am not always trailblazing a new path or leading others in some all new way of life.

I’m just another person with the character and personality to lead. It doesn’t make me more special than anyone else. It’s just where I fit in this puzzle of life and when I get out of place…the picture doesn’t quite look right.

Thanks for reading and sharing in this journey with me. Peace.
