You probably know what I’m talking about just by the title alone. Today was one of those days when I couldn’t get things done quite right.

The specifics aren’t really important because “hitting a brick wall” was the general theme for the day. No matter how many times I took a break to calm my frustration, get some clarity and come back to the task at hand; there was something else that wouldn’t work quite right.

That’s the most frustrating part, the “quite right”. Just when I got good into it, and I’ll use repairing a computer as an example because that was the most frustrating. My initial plan was to get some other things done while the operating system was installing. Half way through the installation, I get an error. And another, and another.

This was supposed to be a day dedicated to updating this site and several others; go to the post office and some other daily duties. It’s 2am and I still haven’t figured out what’s wrong.

The computer was just one of the issues. There were numerous others. But what I did was find some less difficult tasks that I knew I could complete. Cooked dinner, washed some clothes, called some friends I hadn’t talked to in a while as well as some that could understand and just listen to what was happening today.

In the past, I’ve let one of these days carry over into weeks and even months. But by completing some tasks, I counteracted the general theme of today.

Most importantly, I got a call back with some encouragement to continue. A hug from my wife. And some general conversation with others that helped me not get so frustrated and carry this into tomorrow. Hopefully. (There should be smileys on here – I like using smileys).

I’m grateful for the people that are in my life and that I’ve learned some different techniques to maintain some peace, especially mentally. This was that type of stuff that creates banging headaches and a morning back ache.

I didn’t accomplish everything I set out to do today. But those Don’t Forget Abouts… people of mine. Life savers. If you got ‘em, keep ‘em. If you don’t. Find some.

Thanks for reading and sharing in this with me. Peace.

Another late night working and putting some foundational information to use here at Don’t Forget Abouts.

All my life people have told me that I am a leader; a person with leadership qualities. My zodiac sign, Aries; The Leader. Basketball; a scorer, yet able to bring the best out in my teammates. Speaking; able to convey to others what I’ve learned and witness them utilize that information.

And there are other attributes but this is not to “toot my own horn” or say that I’m the Great Scott, it’s more about my misunderstanding what a leader is, what a trailblazer does, how a pioneer operates.

I thought these types of people took the world upon their shoulders and started their journey. I thought they somehow had a wisdom and understanding that no one else could grasp and it was their duty to lead the masses. To go where no one had gone before (yeah, I used to watch Star Trek).

I didn’t realize they had mentors and guides and followed that guidance. That they lived by the principles they believed in no matter what the situation – as best they could, because being human, we lack perfection.

Today I can be more effective in leading, in trailblazing and pioneering because I have guidance and I am listening but also asking questions. I am not loading the world on my shoulders and seeking to save the masses – not all at once anyway!

Who leads leaders? The trailblazers that ventured out before them. Who do trailblazers follow? The pioneers that set out for discovery prior to their departure.

I read somewhere that there is nothing new under the sun. Actually, it wasn’t somewhere it’s in the Book of Ecclesiastes. The longer I live the more I realize that I am not always trailblazing a new path or leading others in some all new way of life.

I’m just another person with the character and personality to lead. It doesn’t make me more special than anyone else. It’s just where I fit in this puzzle of life and when I get out of place…the picture doesn’t quite look right.

Thanks for reading and sharing in this journey with me. Peace.

While I’m going through the necessary preparation and learning to get this site how I want it I figured I should share what’s going on behind the scenes. I have been doing some Adobe cramming, if there is such a thing, and it’s been helpful and frustrating at the same time.

I tend to learn very quickly, especially when it come to computers, software, hardware, etc. because it’s something I love doing, but it’s one of those areas of learning where the more information and skills I get, the more I realize how little I know.

Today I received a brief, yet very informative lesson from a colleague, you can check him out at www.prism-ent.com. It’s amazing how some things just don’t make sense until someone “walks” me through it and that helps bring clarity to some other “issues”. The reason the photo is inserted properly has to do with that lesson.

This site is being built by the very thing that it is about…the people I will never forget! I’ve spent the last several years trying to do this on my own and it’s cost me plenty. Much more frustration than anything, but I have also wasted a lot of money. Lesson learned.

The fact that I am open to asking for help as well as receiving it is evident in the progress that has already been made in just a little over a week. And under the direction of Rick Brock this evening I am venturing into a more in-depth design for this site and my other sites…coming soon: www.tuxedocreations.com and www.tuxedowebdesigner.com.

www.tuxedophotgraphy.com will also be renovated and I will have an article explaining what all the Tuxedo is about and where it originated in my family. Marcus Arcell McGee, my grandfather is definitely one of those Don’t Forget Abouts people.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for the next post. SAS Scott A. Simmons

All night I have been working on getting a website organized and published. Actually for several years now I have been working on one venture or another, all having something to do with the internet. Tonight, the latest two ventures are: 1. A mobile website and 2. A blog.

I found the information I needed to create a mobile website and used one of my existing domain names – http://www.arcellsplace.com and went through converting it to a mobile page…able to be displayed on any mobile phone. That was inspired by my latest toy, a PDA that is great! (I don’t know all the “rules” yet for mentioning products by name, so I can’t tell you all I have a G1).

After that didn’t quite work out and immediately publish the information I was seeking to share, it was suggested I start a blog since I like to write. Arcell’s Place, by the way, is a forum for poetry and spiritual encouragement but right now it’s showing up as parked – how encouraging is that? Lol.

But this blog is a product of inspiration! My partner, not like together partner, I’m married to my beautiful wife, he is the one who suggested this tonight. We’ve been on this journey to success together and he’s been doing his thing in music; his gift. Check out http://www.banginbeatsbyrel.com and see for yourself.

So then why does he have a blog, a website, music students, etc. and I’m still working on something! Well somewhere along the way in these past few years I got away from this blogging and even wanting to, but it’s what I love. I stopped working on my websites, well all but one: http://www.tuxedophotography.com because photography is a compressed version of my love for writing…a picture is worth a thousand words right? Stay focused!

A Product of Inspiration, yes, this is a culmination of the inspiration I have received and been given by those people in my life who dare to rise above mediocrity. Those who continue to apply the basic principle of consistency. I am so thankful to have people who energize my spirit with inspiration and a desire to never give up. I grew up with liturgy like, “Nothing beats a try but a failure”, but just tonight I told my wife, “Nothing beats a try”!

And all you inspirational products of consistency, thank you for resonating the get-up-and-go flow that has sparked the flames of “I can do it too” in me once again. Thanks for taking the time to read this and share in my being inspired. May Peace reign in your spirit today. Holla
